On Tuesday, December 11, Fountain Valley’s Royal Regiment spent an entire day excused from school as honorary cast members in Disneyland’s holiday parade. However, this time the band tried something new. This year, for the first time, FVRR brought along 8th grade band members from Masuda and Fulton Middle Schools who wanted to march in the parade with them. This was a new idea brought about to encourage more students to join the marching band as they enter high school.

Throughout the morning and early afternoon, the band members spent their time roaming around the theme park as they wished. Then, around dawn, the band went backstage to prepare for the parade. The Royal Regiment began the parade performing joyous holiday music with a combination of “Joy to the World” and “We Wish You a Merry Christmas” as a dazzled audience gathered around the parade route. The route began from Small World and ended at Main Street, both of which were beautifully decorated with lights and holiday paraphernalia.

The band received a blue plaque presented by Disneyland Resort for their participation in the parade.

Before they left, FVRR had another hour to enjoy their last moments as the 2007-2008 marching band.
