PSAT: October 10th The PSAT/NMSQT will take place on Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at Fountain Valley High School. FVHS will only administer the PSAT to 10th and 11th graders. The PSAT is a college admission practice examinations. It measures readiness for college, offers access to scholarships, and provides practice for the SAT. All 10th graders will be taking the PSAT/NMSQT exam on Wednesday, October 10, 2018. With the one time funding, Huntington Beach Union High School District will be covering the costs to the PSAT/NMSQT for all families of 10th graders. Parents/students do not need to pre-register for this exam. The PSAT/NMSQT is optional, but highly recommended, for the 11th graders who are planning to apply to a 4-year university. Any 11th grader planning to take the exam will need to sign up in advance and submit a $25 fee for the cost of the PSAT. Sign ups for the PSAT will begin on September 12th thru September 28th. To sign up, parents/students will go to the online Student Store at FVHS.com to sign up and make a payment. The National Merit Scholarship Program (NMSQT) is a academic competition for recognition and scholarships. When 11th grade students take the PSAT/NMSQT and meet other entry requirements, they enter the NMSQT to compete for prestigious recognition and over 8,000 college scholarships to be offered in 2020.
